Lot of butter, a little booze, all delicious! This recipe goes great with chocolate cakes or brownies! The Kahlua flavor is easily adjusted to taste and the recipe is super simple. Kahlua not your flavor? Switch it out for something else: RumChata, Irish Cream, champagne, bourbon, whatever you would like!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb or 4 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 cup slightly softened butter
- 1 tsp Kahlua (or flavoring of choice *measurements vary)
Instructions:
- In a medium-large bowl add softened butter and Kahlua; beat with mixer until combined
- Now, with the mixer on low, begin adding powdered sugar in stages, combining thoroughly with each addition
- Scrape sides of the bowl with each addition to ensure all ingredients are being properly combined
- Once all 4 cups of sugar have been added, whip frosting on medium-high speed until fluffy.
- Add more Kahlua or a splash of milk if frosting seems too stiff or powdery, or more sugar if frosting appears too loose.
- Refrigerate to set before and/or after decorating. Enjoy!
- REMINDER: The intensity of the Kahlua flavor will increase as the buttercream chills and sits.
